The Bioloop Process
Bioloop is a revolutionary applied science that accelerates the end-of-life biodegradation of synthetic fibres and related products. Bioloop ensures the product contributes even after its useful life through natural decomposition.
Bioloop Enhancement
Bioloop integrates an organic enhancer into the carpet fibres—comprising 80% of the product—during manufacturing, creating an eco-friendly carpet that maintains exceptional style, quality, and comfort.
Biologically Active Landfills
New Zealand landfills are biologically active, providing a controlled environment that promotes the breakdown of organic materials. Bioloop-enhanced synthetic materials biodegrade significantly faster than conventional synthetic fibres.
The Breakdown
When placed in a biologically active landfill, Bioloop generates a microbe coating known as biofilm on the surface of the carpet fibres. This biofilm signals other microbes to collaborate in breaking down polymer chains, significantly accelerating the decomposition process.
Independent lab testing shows that Bioloop enhanced carpet fibres broke down by more than 30% within the first two years. A process that took centuries is now completed in 10-20 years

At Urban Collection, our solution dyed nylon carpets are engineered with a high stitch rate, leading to a high density carpet. We also have a high twist rate per metre. Twists are locked into the fibres with heat or steam. As the twist gets tighter, it adds to the carpet’s ability to resist changes, thus increasing its durability. This means the carpet will have better performance, texture, and appearance retention.
